As a Lead Controls Engineer, you will be crucial to ALC's business
through the designing of advancedbuilding automation systems
created specifically for each individual customer. We are looking
forsomeone who works well in a team and has excellent
problem-solving, time management, and multi-tasking skills. You
will solve complex problems, provide input on new products and
processes, andcoach, review, and delegate work to less experienced
engineering professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design of advanced building automation systems including the
specification and sizing of controllers, electromechanical devices,
sensors, networks, and computer hardware.
- Creation, where necessary, of sequences of operation for the
control of all building systems.
- Documentation of the BAS design (i.e. submittals) and revision
control of the resultant documents.
- Final documentation of the building automation system that
incorporates all changes made since issuance of the submittal.
- Develop and mentor other Controls Engineers.
- Adhere to project requirements, company and customer standards
of design, programming,and implementation.
- Create a clear design document for project teams with technical
information.
- Document and communicate the building automation system design
and revisions.
- Develop graphical and text-based interfaces for building
automation systems.
- Provide technical support to sales representatives to ensure
customers' needs are met.
Support of functional testing for complex building systems.
- Provide input and advise others on design and programming
standards, to include parts andpractices.
- Identification and communication of project opportunities and
risks related to cost, time, and technical considerations.
- Timely creation of requests for information (RFIs) which are
clear, concise, and well written.
- Clear communication and proactive expectation setting with
manager and project teams both internal and external.
- Maintenance and advisement of customer and company design and
programming standards including parts and practices.
- Adherence to safety standards. High regard for employee and
subcontractor safety.
- Adherence to ethics standards. Exemplifies the Carrier code of
ethics.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of engineering or HVAC controls
industry experience, OR Associate Degree with 8+ years
ofengineering or HVAC controls experience, OR High School
Diploma/GED with 10+ years of engineering or HVAC controls
experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Engineering or Construction discipline.
- Experience in HVAC controls or related industry.
- Thoroughly understand electrical and mechanical building
systems.
- Capable of designing and programming any project executed by
Automated Logic, regardless of complexity.
- Able to understand, write, and recommend modifications to
sequences of operation for the automation of all building
systems.
- Able to interpret plans (including architectural, mechanical,
and electrical blueprints), specifications, and contract documents
to deliver compliant but optimized designs.
- Able to concisely, accurately, and effectively request
clarifications to technical or scope information via a formal RFI
process.
- Proficient with advanced functions of building automation
system software and associatedengineering tools, Automated Logic
suites preferred.
- Advance working knowledge of Automated Logic software,
hardware, peripherals, add-ons, andservices.
- Proficient in third-party communication protocols used in
building automation, such as BACnet,Modbus, SNMP, LON, N2,
etc.
- Knowledge with Enterprise IP networks and Microsoft Visio, or
similar software.
- Experience with advanced written sequences of operations,
diagrammatic depictions ofsystems.
- Able to translate technical information to both technical and
non-technical audiences.
- Provide guidance and direction to other team members.
- Strong aptitude for problem solving even when troubleshooting
remotely.
- Excellent time management skills including the ability to
accurately estimate the time required to complete tasks and deliver
on the committed timeline.
- Competency with Microsoft software including Windows, Outlook,
Word, and Excel.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
- Possess and maintains valid and current form of government
issued identification.
- Ability to report to assigned work location reliably.
- Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment over
8 feet above grade, and capableof lifting items up to 50lbs.
