Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a
qualified Psych RN in Bronx, New York, 10456! Job Title: Registered
Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Psychiatric Unit
Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 34.5
hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year in psychiatric nursing
required. License: Valid nursing license required. Certifications:
BLS ACLS PALS One of the following: Handle with Care TRUST Training
Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Preventing and Managing Crisis
Situations (PMCS) Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
Must-Have: 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience. Preferably
some medical experience (e.g., MS, MS-Tele, PCU, ICU).
De-escalation experience and restraint use. Description: This
position involves working in an adolescent psychiatric unit. We do
not accept first-time travelers for this role. The position is
expected to be the primary job and will not accommodate part-time
or second jobs. Any requests for time off should be submitted prior
to the contract start date as approvals cannot be guaranteed after
the start date. The unit has 40 beds, divided into sections for
adult and child/adolescent patients, and nurses may work in both
areas. There is a designated triage section for fast-tracking
patients. Security is available in-house 24/7. On average, the unit
treats 15-45 patients per day. The nurse to patient ratios range
from 1:6 to 1:12, depending on patient acuity. Typical staffing
includes multiple RNs designated to different patient age groups
and a charge nurse, though charge nurses typically do not take
patient assignments. Patient Care Technicians perform duties such
as phlebotomy, EKGs, and assisting with daily living activities.
Respiratory Therapists are available 24/7 to administer treatments
and assist with respiratory needs. Registered Nurses may need to
identify major and life-threatening rhythms but are not responsible
for continuous monitoring. X-ray and CT are available in the main
emergency room, with Technicians assigned to transport patients.
Phlebotomy duties are performed by Patient Care Technicians.
Travelers will be scheduled according to the needs of the unit and
may be required to float to other psychiatric units. There is a
weekend requirement of every other weekend and holiday rotation may
apply. The dress code includes wearing royal blue scrubs.
Successful candidates should possess effective de-escalation
skills, patience, compassion, and the ability to recognize crises
