Job Description:
Job Description Job Description General Functions: The employee
in this classification shall report to the Program Manager. The
employee is part of the Treatment Team of the facility. The
responsibilities are custodial in function, with the coordination
of: ensuring the cleanliness of the facility and the documentation
of specific ACA standards, on-going security of the facility;
accountability for the client population; supervision and support
of all clients in their daily routine and chore assignments;
orientation of new clients; employee shall monitor client curfews
and/or furlough; answer and log all phone calls; file all necessary
paperwork and documentation in compliance with Volunteers of
America Delaware Valley procedures and funding source requirements.
Scope of Duties: 1. Interact (verbally and non-verbally) with all
clients, staff, and community members with respect and courtesy. 2.
Maintain client and staff confidentiality in compliance with
administrativel policies and procedures. 3. Attend and participate
in regularly scheduled staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and
training sessions. 4. Ensure cleanliness of internal structure
daily. Ensure the building and surrounding external areas are kept
presentable. 5. Ensure trash cans are emptied daily. 6. Ensure
trash is properly discarded and that the dumpster does not present
an unsanitary and unsightly view. 7. Ensure sanitization of trash
cans and liners are changed as needed. 8. Ensure that bathrooms are
clean, deodorized, and sanitized. Make certain they are
appropriately supplied on a daily basis. 9. Report maintenance
needs to appropriate supervisor. 10. Ensure windows and doors are
clean. 11. Ensure the floors are swept, mopped, and vacuumed daily.
Ensure that floors are stripped, buffed and finished and that rugs
are shampooed as needed. 12. Ensure walkways are kept free and
clear of snow and other debris. 13. Ensure all stairs and doorways
are free of obstruction. 14. Maintain accreditation and licensing
standards related to facility cleanliness and document all
standards consistent with the Quality Assurance Plan 15. Maintain
controls on all cleaning materials and ensure cleaning supplies are
available. 16. Document distribution of all cleaning materials and
other hazardous materials. 17. Ensure and document the completion
of all assigned client chores. 18. Complete hourly rounds of the
facility, document facility conditions, ensure accountability for
all residents on census. 19. Review and verify the facility census
at beginning and completion of each tour of duty. Relay census to
funding source by mandated times each day. 20. Monitor the sign in
and sign out procedure for all clients. 21. Initiate emergency
follow-up procedure when clients are late in returning to the
facility or are absent without authorization. 22. Conduct
orientation of all new clients to the facility. The Orientation
shall include a review of rules and regulations, a general intake,
and a review of fire safety and emergency procedures. 23.
Coordinate meal distribution to clients and work with supervisor in
handling any problems with meals and meal distribution. 24. Conduct
inventory and secure client personal property upon termination from
the program. 25. Monitor medication to clients and document in the
Medication Log. 26. Schedule and document medical appointments for
clients as needed with institution or providers; make the
appropriate log entry of assigned clients and notify clients of
their respective appointment dates and times. 27. Conduct
inspections and contraband searches of the entire facility in
compliance with operational policies and procedures. 28. Conduct
random searches of clients and/or personal property as clients
enter or leave the facility in compliance with Operational Policies
and Procedures. 29. Ensure all visitors sign in and sign out of the
Visitor's Log. Include the purpose of the visit. 30. Log phone
calls and respond to inquiries in an appropriate manner, and in
compliance with Operational policy and procedures. 31. Conduct
monthly fire drills as assigned and complete documentation. 32.
Conduct regular fire/safety checks of the facility; monitor all
safety and emergency equipment; generate work orders to Central
Maintenance for facility repairs. 33. Make appropriate entries in
daily log: Entries shall convey information concerning clients,
building conditions, and/or other significant information. Each
entry shall include the date and the time of entry and be signed by
the writer. 34. Transport and/or escort clients as directed. 35.
Document all disciplinary or special incidents involving clients
and submit all appropriate forms to supervisor. 36. File as
directed. 37. Provide support to case management function. 38.
Fulfill training obligations 39. Assure and document client's
compliance with established pass regulations/procedures to include
random phone verification to pass sites. 40. Conduct drug and
alcohol screens as directed or needed and report results to
supervisor 41. Notify Food Service of meal count and receive food
in the facility. 42. Complete any duties assigned. ADA Essential
Functions: 1. Occasionally required to smell, stoop. 2. Regularly
required to use hands to handle or feel. 3. Frequently required to
reach. 4. Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. 5.
Occasionally required to lift and move up to 25 lbs. 6. Regularly
required to lift and move up to 10 lbs. 7. Ability to observe an
area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while
eyes remain on a given point. 8. Ability to see clearly at 20
inches or less. 9. Ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more. 10.
Ability to identify or distinguish colors. Credentials/Abilities:
The Employee in this position must have a minimum of a high school
diploma or a GED with a minimum of 6 months experience as a agency
program assistant. Previous work experience in human services
preferred but not essential. Additional skills required include
effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to
interact appropriately with clientele. Must be able to pass
criminal background clearance from funding source. Must complete
approved training for ACA standards. This employee must demonstrate
knowledge and competency of ACA standards and Corrections Services
policies and procedures. Must possess valid driver's license and be
